Through this project we serve the rural women for the past 8 years. Our initiatives rooted by this project ensure to develop the socio-economic condition of the target community; through promotion of Self Help Groups (SHGs). At present we have promoted 45 SHGs, which are actively functioning and availing loans from nationalized banks. Apart from economical activities, we also cater the women knowledge on various issues that affecting them, such as untouchably, gender, reproductive health leadership and personality. The project is beneficial especially to the dalits and poor rural population, who are most vulnerable to all these socio, economic and cultural problems and are not empowered till now to defend them from these. Through SHGs and the savings the women are able to enhance their economic status. Some of the benefits that were hitherto not given to them are now made available to them. The awareness education on various gender issues, have helped them to solve some of the problems. Our educational initiative through after school tutoring for Empowering disadvantaged children in Chittoor rural Mandal, Andhra Pradesh Supported By Castricum Helpt Muttathara- The Netherlands

SJWM believes that education is the tool for social transformation. This project has helped to provide supplementary education through after school tuition centres to reach 125 disadvantaged children in 5 villages of remote villages. Due to the failure of monsoon, most of the parents who are illiterate of the villages are migrating to the nearby towns for their livelihood. So the children become uncared and no opportunity to get guidance from their parents. Hence, the rate of dropout among the children has been increasing gradually. The project is helping us to address the dropout issue. The project also created opportunity to supply of educational materials like; note books, geometry boxes, pencils, pens, scale and black boards.

The tuition centres have been started in 1st July, 2019 followed by training to 5 teachers and a project supervisor. Mr. S.SundarRaj the Treasurer from the CSI Vellore Diocese, Mr. S.Baskar, SAVE Trust Chennai, Mrs. Leena Reddy the Director from NURSE NGO, Chittoor graced the inaugural occasion and appreciated the children to study well for their better future.

The five centres have been functioning cooperation of the area leaders and parents. Now, the children of the tuition centres have been improved their reading and writing skills and scoring good marks and grades in their examinations. Hope this project will help the children to build self confidence towards achieving the goal of the project.
